Painted Life Drawings 7 April '10

At life drawing class I am continueing to experiment with fast acrylic painting. This one is painted on a canvas that had a not so good fast life study on it that I scrubbed out with solvent and painted over with primer in order to reuse the canvas.
I am trying to get, every week, something magic in one go. Don't think this one will last too long, I painted, then overpainted, the figure 3 times and painted and painted again the background 5 times.
Overworked. I kinda like the colours though.

A Day's Work

Today I went with my artist friends Barbi and Sandra to another studio in Te Aroha and got some work done on Andy's portrait, the Waikino Surf Club.
Working at someone else's place is productive because all the distractions and unfinished jobs at home are not there to bother me and 8 or so artists are all just doing their thing and providing the perfect atmosphere for work.

A thirty minute painting

I took paints and canvas to the life drawing class last night and ducked out of my teaching obligations to please myself with a couple of fast paintings of the model.

Art and Music Exhibition: preparation

But honey it's cold outside.. so some paintings I am working on for the exhibition are moved out of the studio and into the lounge by the fire.
Line drawings coloured in.
Sophisticated art? No. Fun to play with? Yes.
It's all about fun this exhibition...
